Some Common Questions About Stretch Marquees

We have used both terms here as, like our tents, they have evolved. Our modern stretch marquees or tents provide versatility and adaptability that the old fashioned, rigid marquees did not.

A stretch tent is a roof structure made from a very durable and strong stretch fabric, held up by poles. They are waterproof and can be installed in a variety of ways.

We have a range of sizes, from very small to quite large. Thanks to their modular design, several tents can be connected together, and paired with an internal gutter they remain waterproof. Therefore, we can make up almost any size and design around you requirements and available space. Please have a look at the Capacity Guide to see what size would best suit your need.

When a tent is set up freestanding, this means it is attached to ground anchors (which we install) on all sides and is not touching anything else. A canopy rig is when the tent is attached to an existing structure. We usually have to conduct a site visit to establish if this is possible.

Some of our mid size tents can be pitched with walls and they can be either block out or see through. With bigger tents, we can stretch one or two sides to the ground to essentially create a wall. It means however, that you lose a little bit of usable space, but this is particularly suited to high wind environments.

This is the term used to describe the way the tent is pitched. A standard configuration means all sides are up, other configurations can include corners down, sides down or attached to an existing structure.

For our smaller tents, we usually require the site for about 2 hours and for the bigger tents, we should be done within 5 hours. However this also depends a little on configuration. Pack down is normally done within 1 to 2 hours.

Generally a hire period is 3 days, but we are flexible around that. If you need your tent rigged earlier so you have more time to set up inside and decorate, then we are happy to extend that period to suit your schedule. Should you need the tent for even longer, then please get in touch so we can discuss details.

We can pitch our tents just about anywhere. Ideal are flat unsealed areas, but the tents are so adaptable, that we can work on sealed surfaces, uneven ground, float the tent over obstacles, such as plants, fountains, swimming pools, etc. or attached it to an existing structure.

We are based in the Nelson area and mainly service the top half of the south island. But we are happy to travel anywhere.
